Job Market Integration of Refugee Researchers and Students
The DAAD Greece is the official representation of the German Higher Education Institutions in Greece with the mission in supporting Greek-German academic exchange and cooperation. Several German and Greek institutions collaborate for the integration of refugee researchers and students.
In this online panel and under the moderation of Prof. Dr. Maria Drakaki, International Hellenic University, the DAAD presents a glimpse of the results of these cooperations and contributes in the broad discussion for a better integration of refugee researchers and students in the European job market.
Eleni Andrianopulu, DAAD Greece presents
a) the new DAAD scholarship program for refugee students Hilde Domin https://www.daad.de/de/der-daad/was-wir-tun/entwicklungszusammenarbeit/foerderprogramme-fuer-studierende-von-a-z/hilde-domin-programm/ and
b) the results of the European program for internships in industry for refugee researchers, piloted in the Horizon2020 project BRiDGE II, coordinated by Bielefeld University and in cooperation among others with two Greek partners, the University of the Aegean and CERTH. Prof. Dr. Orestis Kalogirou, President of the Hellenic NARIC, School of Physics AUTh presents steps taken towards Recognition and Assessment of Refugee Qualifications lacking documentation: The European Qualifications Passport for Refugees project of the Council of Europe, Refugees and Recognition, Erasmus+ Toolkit projects.
Prof. Dr. Alexandros Triantafyllidis, Professor, School of Biology AUTh presents the preliminary results of the program, Inspireurope, a project funded under the European Commission’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, coordinated by Scholars at Risk Europe at Maynooth University, Ireland. It involves partners among others such as the Aristotle University Thessaloniki and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Its purpose is to facilitate integration of researchers at risk in the academic as well as the private sector job market. Inspireurope / Maynooth University.
